Pizza base - no yeast, no baking powder and no rise time

if you haven’t noticed there is no yeast or baking powder in the supermarket at the moment. With my yeast failing to activate and my baking powder running out I decided to improvise and came up with this recipe. It turned out super yum!

2 1/2 cups flour

3/4 cup water

3 tsp white vinegar

2 tsp baking soda

Drizzle of oil (approx. 2 Tbspn)


Extra flour for the bench when kneading/rolling out


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees

  2. Add all ingredients to bowl

  3. Mix together with hands

  4. Sprinkle bench with extra flour and transfer dough on top

  5. Knead/fold for 5 minutes or until it feels stretchy and most of your flour is mixed in and the dough doesn’t feel sticky anymore

  6. Roll out to shape

  7. Drizzle pan with oil and transfer base to pan

  8. Precook base for 10 mins

  9. Add pizza toppings

  10. Cook for further 25 minutes. Switch to grill for last 5 minutes to crispy up the cheese
